Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network is a Philly shelter network that houses homeless families in different houses of worship, while empowering these families to get 'back on their feet.' We love to attend their yearly Empty Bowl Dinner fundraiser.

A favorite thing for us to do on a Saturday evening is to watch videos of Leo, our favorite shipwright. He is restoring a historic sailing yacht out in the Pacific Northwest.

Friends of the Wissahickon. Our wonderful nearby public park, where we run, hike, go maple sugaring, and happily explore. The Wissahickon (say it: Whiss-ah-HICK-on) is an abundant gift to our family. This non-profit works to conserve and maintain it.

The Fresh Air Fund! This is the nonprofit the McBees have supported for 35 years. Count 'em, Rhu! The FAF gives inner city NYC kids free summer vacations in the country; Alice credits the FAF with a good deal of value-shaping and priorities as an adult.

The Missouri Botanical Garden is a place dear to our hearts. Even if Alice has only experienced it through photos. They are dedicated to cataloging and conserving plant life across the planet. Also a really cool place to visit if you ever find yourself in St. Louis.

Oh my goodness, the Library. We can walk to our branch and are endlessly grateful for the privilege of having a public library, not to mention all the fabulous author events. Also, ask Alice about the librarian who dated Grace Kelly's brother!?
